You’ll encounter your fair share of combat when battling enemies in Sons of the Forest, which means you’ll want a reliable way to shorten your weapons while you play. Because Sons of the Forest is a survival horror game, not everything will be easy, like the hotkeys you use and the way you switch weapons. This means that there are difficult methods to change weapons, which will not be fast. Can you use weapon hotkeys in Sons of the Forest?
Does Sons of the Forest give you hotkeys for weapons while playing?
Unfortunately, it is not the case. We can confirm that you won’t be able to assign weapons to any of your hotkeys during gameplay. However, you don’t always need to access your main inventory directly to swap items. There is a faster method, but only slightly faster. It’s not as quick as pressing a button to switch weapons. To set this up, go to your main inventory and click on the backpack in the top menu area.

Click on your backpack to place items there, such as weapons you want to use. You can also use this menu to remove items from your backpack and return them to your main inventory. Once you have selected the items you wish to have, exit the inventory page.

Once out of the inventory page, hold down the I button and your character will hold their backpack in front of them. You can then mouse over any of the items you have placed in your backpack and switch between them without going into your main inventory. While this method is still slow, it’s faster than going through each item on your list and clicking on the weapon you need to use during a fight.
