Danish esports organization, Astralis, has announced that they will be the last major esports team to leave the Rainbow Six: Siege competitive space. As noted in a blog post, Astralis will leave the circuit due to changes to the league agreement, which Astralis says has “significantly deteriorated” and does not promote good condition for “Manage a healthy team organization in Rainbow 6”.
Speaking of leaving the stage, Astralis CEO Anders Hørsholt added:
“We entered Rainbow 6 and the North American League with great ambitions and the best of intentions, and our American organization has done everything humanly possible to realize those ambitions. However, despite the dedicated and extremely loyal efforts of all the people involved, the development and the lack of prospects in the league unfortunately prevent us from continuing.”
He continued: “It was truly amazing to feel the passion for the game among the fans and everyone involved, and we worked every stone to find a way to continue operations. This included an open and constructive dialogue with Ubisoft, during which all parties sought possible ways forward.
“We appreciate all the efforts made, but unfortunately we have not found a solution to continue our operations and meet our obligations and standards regarding the working conditions of our staff and players.”
It comes after Astralis really made a big impact at the 2023 Six Invitational, with the team managing to finish the tournament fourth overall.
