Fans of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series of RPG games are working together to host a series of Twitch streams from AC Origins, AC Black Flag, Assassin’s Creed 2 and more, with viewer donations going to quake relief campaigns of land from Syria and Turkey.

Launched on February 22, Assassin’s Creed Community Relief has already raised over $5,000 (£4,148 GBP), surpassing its initial total funding goal in less than 24 hours. The project now hopes to reach its $10,000 donation goal and is planning a long series of Twitch and YouTube streams, as well as giveaways, to raise money for Save the Children’s relief efforts in Syria and Turkey.

“Many of us in the Assassin’s Creed community have been moved by the heartbreaking devastation that has followed the multiple earthquakes in Turkey and Syria,” says Assassin’s Creed Community Relief. “Our goal is to mobilize Assassin’s Creed fans around the world to contribute to our fundraising for those affected by the earthquakes and their aftermath.

“Donations will go to Save the Children, which provides on-the-ground support to earthquake-affected areas. Homes, buildings and essential infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed, and children urgently need help to access food, shelter and warm clothing.

Between February 22 and March 7, Assassin’s Creed Community Relief hosted a variety of AC-related Twitch and YouTube streams. Some of them are simple “let’s play”, including marathon sessions for the original Assassin’s Creed and AC Revelations. Others are more specific, offering narrated historical tours through the most famous locations in the sandbox game series.

The Relief Project also offers a number of freebies, including AC art books and game download codes. The bigger your donation, the bigger gifts you can receive, with two Assassin’s Creed Collector’s Boxes, never before available on general sale, serving up great prizes.

On February 6, southern and central Turkey as well as northern and western Syria were hit by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake. As of this writing, the death toll is over 49,000. Charities such as Oxfam and UNICEF have mobilized funds to help those in need.

You can follow Assassin’s Creed Community Relief on their official website, where you can also donate to Save the Children. Alternatively, you can go directly to Save the Children’s donation portal.
