The month of January is coming to an end in Animal Crossing New Horizons, which has a brand new update: 1.7.0, which we detail in our full Walkthrough of Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
The update 1.7.0 of Animal Crossing New Horizons was released on January 28, 2021 in the last installment of the license for Nintendo Switch. This, less substantial than the previous ones, will allow us to introduce new gameplay elements as well as a new event: Carnival, which comes with new facial expressions, new costumes and new seasonal items.
The carnival
This new event will take place February 15 of each year. Like the day of sharing and the day of gifts added in Update 1.6.0, you will need wait for the date of the event in order to participate.
During this event, you will meet Roberto, a new peacock NPC who will show up on your island square in order to to animate this special day.
During this day, feathers of different colors will fall on the island and you can catch with your net. Roberto will ask you Many times to bring him back feathers of a specific color. Obviously, you will reward if you’re doing him a favor.
Note that the exact content of the event is not yet known. However, you will find a dedicated guide to the latter as soon as the carnival will be accessible.
The new facial expressions
This game update will bring its lot of new facial expressions. They are 4 in number and can be purchased between February 1st and 15th in Boutique Nook wardrobe under the name “Lot of carnival mimics” against 19,800 bells.
You can therefore use your new facial expressions and parading in front of your friends.
New items and outfits
This update 1.7.0 also brings his lot of objects / outfits various and varied. So, between February 1st and 15th, you can go to the Nook Shop to buy objects related to carnival, while The Fairy Finger Sisters shop will suggest you outfits appropriate to the event. Other objects will only be obtainable during the carnival.
You will have something to prepare yourself, you and your island, to this day which promises to be very colorful.
New temporary items
Following the installation of this update, go in the town hall then interact with the Nook Stop in order to open the Nook Shopping. In the special items category, you should find a temporary objects tab. The latter contains four new objects that you can buy against a few bells.

As with every update, Nintendo will send you a letter containing a gift that you will find directly in your mailbox as soon as you return to the game. This contains a pair of maracas, something to get you in the mood before the start of Carnival.
