Among Us was one of those surprises of the new school year. The game has more than doubled its traffic in the past six months, and has even surpassed 250 million downloads. While this triumph bodes well for Innersloth, the studio prefers not to rush. Salome explains all this in the last daily of the day.

Initially published in 2018, Among Us saw its popularity increase in September 2020. A success that is also witnessed by the two awards gleaned by Innersloth at the Game Awards: best mobile game and best multiplayer game. A success that seems to hinder the updates planned by the studio.

Innersloth wants to do it right

It is in a post published on its official blog that the studio gave news of its flagship title. A new map, announced at the Game Awards, is due to arrive in early 2021, but this is not the only novelty planned by Innersloth. Indeed, the studio plans to integrate an account system to facilitate the moderation of the game, as well as a list of friends.

If the latter take longer than expected, Innersloth is justified by referring to the success encountered in recent months. The studio recalls that the team behind Among Us has only four people: therefore, development had to be put on hold in order to be able to manage the administrative aspects of the title such as legal issues for example. Moreover, they prefer to be cautious about recruiting new employees, which could “slow down more than speed things up“. Finally, Innersloth recalls that they changed direction along the way: a second opus was to be released, but the team preferred to refocus on the original title.
