Dredge’s endings are very different from each other; there is a bad ending if you follow the main path, and a good ending, also a secret ending, if you find a special NPC and do some extra objectives to find out the truth about the relics and the collector. We can show you how to get all of the endings in Dredge below, including this special, secret ending for something a little more upbeat than normal.
Obviously major spoilers for Dredge below!
All Dredge Endings and How to Get Them
There are two endings for Dredge that players can obtain:
Both are determined by a split in the narrative that occurs after obtaining the final relic, but the good ending is not obvious and requires you to visit an entirely optional island and meet an NPC you are not. not informed.
Luckily, we can lay them out below and how you can get them. Note that after getting one, it’s entirely possible to reload a save and get the other, to see the difference.
How to Get the Bad Ending in Dredge
Getting the bad ending in Dredge is very simple:
- Get the five relics on the main plot.
- back to Collector on Blackstone Isle and deliver them.
- tell him you are ready to make the last trip.
- move towards point marked on the map (coordinates G-8). There will be a pillar of red light to clearly indicate where you are going.
- When you reach it, interact when prompted with a question mark icon to start the final scene.
That’s effectively what you’re told to do, and by simply following the main quest, that’s the point you’ll get to at the end of the game. However, there is an alternative, and since the game autosaves right before Stage 3, where you watch the final ending, you can go back and try again for a better result.
How to Get the Secret Good Ending in Dredge

To get the good ending in Dredge, players must take a much less obvious secret route. We have laid it out below.
- Get the five relics on the main plot.
- move towards unnamed island south of Devil’s Spine (map coordinates P-10)
- In the channel that crosses the island, there will be ruins that you can dock at.
- Dock here and talk to the NPC: the former mayor
- Listen to his whole story until he tells you to talk to the lighthouse keeper.
- Return to the starting town of Greater Marrow. ask the lighthouse keeper what he knows of the Crimson Book.
- Go to Blackstone Isle and talk to the collector. Choose to hide the relic.
- Ask him to tell you more about his book and tap on the topic when prompted.
- Choose to take one more step and take the book.
- Leave without returning the relic and go back to the lighthouse keeper. Tell him you’re ready.
- Navigate to the point marked on the map (coordinates G-8). The headlamp will keep its beam focused on the spot to guide you.
- Choose “dismiss”.
Well, we said “happy ending”, not “happy ending”. But what really happened and what does it all mean? Why do you have to… feed the fish in the good ending and who was the collector?
The End of Dredging Explained
Dredge’s ending is based on a plot, the one you discover in the secret ending: the unnamed main character and the collector on Blackstone Isle are the same person. Between the collector, the lighthouse keeper, and the former mayor, the whole story is broken into pieces in the secret ending.
Your character got married shortly before the start of the game and you both found the Crimson Book, also known as Book of the Deep, dredged from the ocean and filled with black magic. They were accompanied by others, including the former Major of Greater Marrow, but as they were leaving with him, a monster attacked the ship.

The woman died in the attack and the former mayor went mad. From what she had seen, while fleeing the city, Farera herself witnessed what happened. However, the Book itself was the key to all sorts of evil powers, including summoning a supernatural godthere research that they use it. Taking this into account, erased the protagonist’s memory of the event and created hallucinations in his mind of The Collectora mysterious figure who guides him to find the relics needed to use it, suggesting it could be used to bring the woman back to life – this is the story you play out in the game.
The endings vary depending on whether or not you discover the truth.. In the bad ending, your character never realizes who the collector is and helps perform the ritual, thinking it will bring the woman back, but actually summons an ancient god and the apocalypse with him. In the good ending, the protagonist realizes the truth, resists the Collector’s influence, realizes he’s always had the Book on him, and throws it back into the ocean. hoping no one finds it, only to be eaten by a sea monster, possibly the one that originally attacked the ship.

The true identity of the monster is unclear: it is a creature that protects the Book, trying to destroy all who know it to prevent the supernatural god from crossing it, oh is a summoned monster For the Book to punish the protagonist for not performing the ritual. Either it’s possible… or it’s just a random leviathan noticing a free snack at sea level.
