Last Friday, news reached the gaming world that many fans have been waiting for for years. Rockstar officially confirmed work on the GTA 5 successor. Although there have always been rumors and speculations about GTA 6, there has been no official confirmation over the years. Until two days ago.

While this news was in itself very noteworthy for fans, Rockstar has failed to provide any further details on the project, particularly regarding a release window. A well-known GTA 6 insider has now expressed new speculation about the release date of the long-awaited game.

Release date

Following the confirmation of GTA 6 over the past few days, Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier has taken to social media to offer his thoughts on the news. Schreier, who has had numerous scoops on Rockstar titles in the past, suspected that the studio will officially announce Grand Theft Auto 6 later this year and set a launch date for fall 2023.

However, Schreier believes that this window of opportunity will ultimately not be met. Which should result in GTA 6 appearing sometime in 2024 instead. Whether Schreier has any inside information that led him to this conclusion hasn’t been said, but this statement does line up with some previous rumors we’ve heard about the launch of GTA 6.
