Nintendo has officially announced the Metroid Prime remaster for Nintendo Switch, launching today
Announced during a Nintendo Direct that aired on Thursday, the classic GameCube shooter will be digitally re-released on the Nintendo eShop today for $40, with a physical release slated for February 22.
According to Nintendo, the remastered version of the game features high definition visuals and improved sound.
Metroid Prime remasters have been talked about for years. Last November, a well-known insider claimed that the Prime 1 remaster was already finished in 2021 and ready to go on sale.
The Metroid franchise is currently enjoying something of a resurgence following the successful release of Metroid Dread last year.
In Japan, the game outsold nearly every other Metroid in the franchise in its first week alone, and had the best-selling launch ever for a Metroid game in the UK.
