A dedicated group of fans gathered on the last day of the Babylon’s Fall servers to say goodbye to one of the biggest failures of the past year.
The online RPG Babylon’s Fall is one of the biggest flops of recent years. The game debuted on March 3, 2022, and its servers were shut down yesterday, less than a year after its release. Players were warned about this several months in advance, so a group of the most dedicated fans gathered to relive the final moments of this production.
- Server shutdowns always cause great excitement and often become the occasion for virtual funerals where players say goodbye to their favorite video games.
- In the case of Babylon’s Fall, the game’s developers didn’t flaunt it. There was no farewell for the players. After the indicated time, they were disconnected and received a message about the interruption for technical reasons. Only later is the game’s official Twitter. published Thanks to the players for their participation.
- Even without any recap prepared by the developers, fans of the game made sure their final moments with the game were memorable. Then they shared the recordings of those last moments:
Very few player groups are visible in these videos, which is a good illustration of why the game’s servers have been shut down. On Steam, daily activity logs in February were 3-14 players. On the last day the servers were running, the record was 45 people playing simultaneously.
Recall that the game was released on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Despite the fact that the game was developed by the acclaimed Japanese studio PlatinumGames (authors, among others, of NieR: Automata and Bayonetta), Babylon’s Fall turned out to be to be a huge dud.. – The review average was only 43% on OpenCritic. The servers never filled up, and even this modest community began to fade rapidly. The end of the game was therefore inevitable.
