The game The fall of Babylon exclusive to consoles PlayStation will officially close at almost midnight today, February 27.

Babylon’s Fall was developed by acclaimed studio PlatinumGames and published by world-renowned publisher Square Enix, but that wasn’t enough to attract a large following.

Babylon’s Fall was designed as a game as a service for PC, PS4 and PS5. While games as a service can be extremely lucrative if successful, the long list of failed games as a service shows that they are still a gamble for those involved.

Babylon’s Fall had very poor sales and that meant almost no one was playing the game, to the point that there was literally one concurrent player on Steam just a few months after its initial release.

With Babylon’s Fall struggling to generate sales and retain players, the days of Platinum’s experience with the game were numbered.

Babylon’s Fall server shutdown has been announced, scheduled for Monday, February 27 at 11:00 PM PST. This won’t affect many players though, as Babylon’s Fall was discontinued last year.
