Last week, right after the Nintendo Direct, Metroid Prime Remastered came almost by surprise, and while everyone loved the game, it ran into a point of controversy that has to do with the original developers, who did not appear named in the credits of the new title.
A simple nod is given to the fact that Metroid Prime Remastered is based on the work of the original development team, but those who worked on the game one by one are not named. Many players in the video game industry have spoken out against this practice, including former Retro Studios engineer Zoid Kirsch and chief technical engineer Jack Matthews.
While some of the remasters and remakes are great, it’s important to remember that the groundwork was laid by a dedicated team. Not specifically acknowledging the merit of these people can be offensive, even if a nod is given to the entire team.
