France registers 17,565 cases and 190 deaths in hospitals in one day

Paris, Dec 19 (EFE) .- France registered this Saturday 17,565 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 190 deaths in hospitals, bringing the total number of positives since the beginning of the epidemic to 2.46 million and 60,418 that of deaths.
The number of deaths in nursing homes and dependency centers is updated twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays. This past Friday the Public Health Agency notified 346 new cases in those centers.
The public body added on its website that in the last seven days there have been 8,736 hospital admissions due to complications derived from covid-19, of which 1,152 had to be directed to intensive care units (ICU).
The positivity rate of the total number of tests carried out continues to decline, with three tenths less in one day, to 5.6%.
The French health authorities have 2,523 sources of contagion under investigation, a figure that dates back to December 14 and of which 956 were located in nursing homes and dependency centers.
