The Comic-Con public was able to see a preview of the series “The Rings Of Power” of the saga of “The Lord of the Rings” yesterday in San Diego.

Amazon Studios unveiled the new trailer for the series that takes place thousands of years before the events of “The Hobbit” and “The Lord of the Rings” by JRR Tolkien. Stephen Colbert, a self-proclaimed Tolkien fan, moderated a panel on the series in Hall H, the largest at the popular culture convention. Under the leadership of producers JD Payne and Patrick McKay, “Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power” is set in the Second Age of Middle-earth, when the formation and kingdoms fell and evil forces threatened to fill the world with darkness.

“The Rings Of Power” will take audiences to fantastical locations such as the eleven kingdoms of Lindon and Eregion, the dwarven kingdom of Khazad-dûm, the lands of the south and the wastelands of the north, the torn seas and the island kingdom of Númenór, as well as to introduce them to new characters including Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and King Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker).

When does “The Rings Of Power” premiere?

The eight-part series will debut on the Prime Video platform on September 2, with weekly premieres of new episodes.

According to reports it is the most expensive series made so far, with a budget of more than 465 million dollars. Amazon bought the rights from Tolkien’s estate for $250 million in 2017. Jennifer Salke, head of Amazon Studios, told “The Hollywood Reporter” last year that while the figure is “a crazy headline that’s fun to click on,” it was actually to “build the infrastructure of what it will hold.” the entire series” which he described as “a show that builds huge worlds”. Salke also said that a “giant global audience will need to see it as a time-bound program,” but that they are “pretty confident that will happen.”

Although it will not be released until March 2023, the long-awaited film adaptation of the role-playing game “Dungeons & Dragons” was also presented at Comic-Con. Hugh Grant, Regé-Jean Page, Chris Pine, Sophia Lillis, Michelle Rodríguez and Justice Smith are the protagonists of this fantasy and humor film in which Paramount studios have been working for more than a decade.

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” is the final title of the film, in which a group of adventurers “will embark on a journey to recover a lost relic,” the factory detailed.

Such is the expectation for this project that the important Comic-Con decided to inaugurate its first physical edition in two years with the screening of the first minutes of the film and a press conference attended by the entire cast.
