The Clades are a famous family of explorers. Together they venture into the most mysterious corners of the world to find new places, species and mysteries. ‘Strange World’ tells the story of his great discovery, a new undocumented place full of strange species to discover. The find of a lifetime whose main complication lies not only in the dangers of the place but in the tense relationship between the Clades themselves.

Normally, when we do an article about the release date of a film on digital platforms, it is usually due to the demand for the film itself, a hit in theaters that people want to see again at home or, simply, they have waited until they could. consume it at home. However, with ‘Strange World’ it has been quite the opposite. Perhaps you have not even heard of the film and it is that its passage in theaters has been disastrous. Released on November 25, ‘Strange World’ was Disney’s box office bet for the most family-friendly holidays of the year, Thanksgiving in the United States and the entire month of December for Christmas. However, with an expected premiere in its first week of more than 30 million raised, the tape did not even reach twenty. Something that the second week has not exactly solved.

‘Strange World’: Release date on Disney +

It is precisely such movies that can have a good second life on Disney +. Just as there are movies that it hurts to see in a streaming premiere directly, without going through theaters, ‘Strange World’ may be an example of why streaming platforms are as interesting as they are a necessary distribution window. And if we don’t remember how ‘West Side Story’ or ‘Enchantment’ grew upon their arrival at Disney + without having been hits in theaters.

Although the passage through theaters of ‘Strange World’ has been more than unnoticed for a main Disney animated film, its streaming premiere could breathe new life into it. For this, it will be especially important to hit the premiere. Normally Disney has a release date rule of 45 days after it goes through theaters. However, their success can influence, if a film continues to fill theaters it would be absurd to make it coincide with the platform. We have a recent example in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, which by dates should arrive on Disney + for Christmas, but which will most likely be postponed until after the holidays.

The opposite could happen with ‘Strange World’, which needs Christmas reproductions in the living rooms of families around the world through Disney +. With the date still to be confirmed, if we look at the 45-day wait since its premiere on November 25, the film would arrive on Three Kings Day, around January 6. However, although the deal with the theaters may prevent some kind of acceleration of the process of the aforementioned 45-day film window, we would not be surprised if Disney + struggled to add it to its catalog before the end of December.
