American director Rian Johnson is still working on the development of the new Star Wars film trilogy for Disney.

Announced in 2017, the new trilogy Star Wars, independent of the Skywalker family saga, has been run from the start by Rian Johnson without the latter evoking any advancement in development. Heavily occupied with other projects in the world of cinema, several fans feared that it had been canceled in favor of new Star Wars feature films directed by Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman) and Taika Waititi (Thor Ragnarok).

But the latter can now be reassured since the writer and director of Star Wars 9 (The Last Jedi) confirmed to the novelist Sariah Wilson that he was still on it, but that the wait will still be long: “I’m just going to post this information, because I know I’m going to be asked a lot of questions about this. Yes, Rian Johnson’s Star Wars trilogy is still relevant today. There is no release date, because he has so many projects going on, but it’s still on. That’s all I know.
