Star Trek: Picard has once again delivered an hour of drama that raises the stakes for our beloved characters. In “Disengage,” we finally learn the truth about Jean-Luc Picard’s long-lost love child with Beverly Crusher, Jack. This revelation was undoubtedly the highlight of the episode and a moment fans have been eagerly awaiting.

However, despite the exciting developments in the storyline, the pacing of the episode was still problematic. The show seems to be struggling to find its footing in this second season, with too much time spent on unnecessary table setting. That said, there were plenty of action-packed moments to keep us engaged, including the dramatic return of the U.S.S. Titan.

The introduction of Michael Dorn’s character and the emotional reunion between Picard and Beverly Crusher were also touching moments, but the subplot involving Jack’s character was less compelling. While Ed Speleers’ performance as Jack showed potential, the idea that he was being pursued by Amanda Plummer’s villainous Vadic for smuggling medical supplies was not particularly interesting. However, Plummer’s over-the-top portrayal of Vadic was entertaining and promises to bring some much-needed excitement to the season.

Overall, “Disengage” was a decent episode that had its moments but suffered from pacing issues. Hopefully, the show can find a better balance in future episodes, and we can continue to enjoy the journey as we uncover more secrets and plot twists.
