Released on December 15 in theaters, Spider-Man: No Way Home turns everything in its path. After a record start in view of the global health situation, the new adventures of Peter Parker still seem to be as attractive as ever, securing a nice little record in the process.

Spider-Man No Way Home is the third Marvel Cinematic Universe film dedicated to Spider-Man. It features a Peter Parker played by Tom Holland, in a world filled with superheroes and villains whose adventures have been narrated for nearly 15 years by Marvel Studios.

The highest grossing film of the year?

Latest incarnation of Marvel’s most popular superhero divides fans, but it attracts a lot of people in theaters cinema, despite the pandemic, which recently started again with a new variant.

According to Les Echos, Spider-Man No Way Home has simply become highest grossing film of the year with a total of $1.05 billion generated in 12 days, dethroning No Time To Die, the last adventure of James Bond in the guise of Daniel Craig and its $774 million generated around the world.

Concretely, this means that Spider-Man No Way Home is the highest grossing film of what is now called “the Covid era”. In North America as in the rest of the world, the film continues to attract a very large audience.

A success that translates into the generation of $81 million this weekend at the domestic box office and $ 121 million worldwide. A resounding success, especially since the film is not available in the main world market: China.

At the moment, the rest of the program still seems unclear for this version of Spider-Man. Despite the success, the existence of a fourth film within the MCU does not yet seem certain. Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers, who wrote the screenplay for the last two films, recently indicated that they were not aware of any such project.

On the other hand, it’s hard to imagine Spider-Man not returning to live action somehow through Marvel, Sony, or both. In the meantime, lovers of the Weaver will be able to fall back on Spider-Man : Across the Spiderverse Part 1, scheduled for release in October 2022.
