“ I didn’t know exactly who I wanted to play this or that role, so I wrote a giant list with a bunch of names. I wanted everyone to be pre-approved by the studio and I didn’t know if it was going to work, if I would like to vibe with the person or even if they would do a good job, but I wanted them to be approved ,” Tarantino said.
The studio also questioned Roth’s choice over Depp at the time, placing the condition on Tarantino that they would not offer Roth the role until the other candidates for the role turned it down.
“ Do you think that Johnny Depp playing the role of Pumpkin in this movie, which is the opening scene and the closing scene, nothing else, do you think that adds a lot to the box office? ” was the filmmaker’s response to be able to include Roth in the cast of ‘Pulp Fiction’ and reject Depp.
