Alex Paul is a music director who began his career with the film “Chathikkatha Chanthu.” The songs from his debut film were widely embraced by Malayalees, and he soon became a sought-after music director in Malayalam cinema.
Despite creating many hit songs, Alex Paul feels he hasn’t received the recognition he deserves. He was the regular music director for films by Shafi and the duo Rafi-Mecartin. One notable film he worked on was “Mayavi,” directed by Shafi and starring Mammootty, released in 2007. Alex Paul shared his experiences of composing music for this film.
“There were only two songs in that film, and both became huge hits,” Alex Paul said. He added that after the film’s success, the producer told him that the songs were the reason for the film’s success. Alex Paul considers this one of the greatest acknowledgments he has received. He shared these thoughts with Ginger Media Entertainments.
“‘Mayavi’ was the biggest hit of that year. It had only two songs, ‘Muttathe Mulla Chollu’ and ‘Sneham Thenalla,’ both of which became very popular. After the film became a hit, the producer came to me and said, ‘Your songs are the reason this film was a hit.’”
The producer had made four or five films before “Mayavi,” but none of them were big hits. He was quite disheartened by this. When “Mayavi” became a hit, he credited Alex Paul for its success. “I consider the producer’s words as the greatest recognition I have received,” Alex Paul said.
