Nicolás Solabarrieta and Guarén have applied to become the new “Ambassadors” for the Viña del Mar Festival in 2024. It’s worth noting that since 2023, the traditional titles of king and queen have been replaced by “ambassadors,” though many still colloquially refer to them as kings.
Nicolás Solabarrieta and Guarén’s Candidacy
Let’s recall that the Viña del Mar Festival’s reign lasted 41 years, with various showbiz figures being crowned during this period, including Raffaella Carrà, Myriam Hernández, Celia Cruz, and our beloved Matías Vega, who held the title in 2018.
In an interview with Página 7, the young couple expressed their aspirations to join the list of festival winners.
“We hope to win and earn the affection of the people and journalists,” mentioned Nicolás. “Participating is an honor for us, and we’re thrilled about it,” he added.
Despite the official announcement still pending, the news clarified lingering candidacy rumors and brought excitement to the couple. They took a playful jab at last year’s ambassadors, Tita Ureta and José Luis Repenning.
“Tita (Ureta) will have to pass me her crown!” joked Valentina. “Repe, I’m waiting for it,” teased her partner.
“I’m not interested in looking pretty. Plus, I’ll confess that I don’t know how to execute a dive, so we might face some challenges,” Guarén humorously remarked about the iconic dive winners perform at the festival.
