The year 2022 has just begun and the most popular streaming platform still has a year full of television productions in store for us. We share with you our greatest expectations for Netflix series for this new season.

Summary

  • Avatar the Last Airbender
  • Magic : The Gathering
  • Peaky Blinders – Saison 6
  • Stranger Things – Saison 4
  • The Midnight Club
  • The Sandman
  • The Umbrella Academy – Saison 3
  • Vikings : Valhalla

Avatar the Last Airbender

So no, we are not talking about the animated series which is already available on Netflix but about a new Live Action adaptation. Everyone knows Avatar, the last airbender.

The series, extremely popular with the general public, tells the story of Aang, the Avatar and last hope of humanity while the world is in the grip of the threat of the terrible kingdom of fire.

Accompanied by Katara and Sokka, two children of the Water Tribe, and his faithful flying bison Appa, Aang travels to the four corners of the world in order to fully master the four elements and embrace his destiny as an Avatar.

The program is so appreciated that it was entitled to a first adaptation in live action from M. Night Shyamalan, who unfortunately does not honor the initial material. This new project therefore intends to wipe the slate clean and offer us a new iteration of the epic adventures of Aang and his friends.

Magic : The Gathering

We continue with a series of which we ultimately know almost nothing, but which particularly interests us… the adaptation into an animated series of Magic : The Gathering.

The cult card game license has come in many formats, and this series should allow both fans to deepen their knowledge of the game universe while newcomers will be able to discover the depth of the lore developed here. since the inception of the franchise.

A few visuals have been shared recently. If many elements still remain unknown, the presence of Henry Gilroy at the controls is enough to excite us, while the screenwriter signed the Star Wars series: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

If the production is on the level of original programs such as Castlevania and Arcane, Magic: The Gathering could be great entertainment.

Peaky Blinders – Season 6

TV’s most famous gang is set to make its ultimate comeback for the final season of Peaky Blinders. The Shelby brothers will be put to the test as their influence has never been greater. “The best season of all” according to showrunner Steven Knight.

Tommy Shelby will once again have to face these demons as war draws near, fascists begin to make their voices heard, and external threats swarm all around him.

If for the moment nothing very concrete has been communicated about the official synopsis, it is nevertheless necessary to note the return of Alfie Solomons, the mobster interpreted by Tom Hardy.

Stranger Things – Season 4

We start this selection with the new season of Stranger Things. The young teenagers of the small American town of Hawkins have grown up well and should once again save the world from strange paranormal phenomena. Eleven and her friends will face a threat never seen before, while Hopper should also return.

Indeed, the young girl’s adoptive father had mysteriously disappeared at the end of season 3. If his fate was still uncertain, the synopsis and the first images confirm that the character is still alive, but not necessarily in very good health posture.

Lost in the middle of the Russian steppes, the chief of police will have to do everything to escape. The first trailer unveiled suggests a darker and more mature story than before. This season has the merit of intriguing us.

The Midnight Club

The Midnight Club is the next series from new king of horror, Mike Flanagan. The Showrunner of both The Haunting programs and the Midnight Sermons series is once again collaborating with Netflix to bring us The Midnight Club, a ghost story adapted from Christopher Pike’s book of the same name.

In a hospital, young teenagers in the terminal phase meet every evening at midnight to tell each other horrific stories. This group of friends makes a promise that the first to die will do everything to contact the others from the afterlife.

As the first member of the group dies, this oath quickly begins to turn into a nightmare. A very frightening story which should once again highlight Mike Flanagan’s complete mastery for this kind of story and give us a good dose of chills.

The Sandman

The Sandman is a new Netflix original creation, based on the graphic novel of the same name by Neil Gaiman. If this name means nothing to you, the American Gods series is also adapted from his work. We know almost nothing about this latest project, but it has something to make your mouth water.

The Sandman comics is one of the few to appear on the New York Times bestseller list and the only one to have won the World Fantasy Prize which generally rewards fantasy novels. The story follows the enigmatic character of Morpheus, a superior being capable of influencing the dreams of humans.

If the series lives up to the reputation of the original work, that’s a big yes. We don’t yet know the official release date, but we can’t wait to discover this program.

The Umbrella Academy – Season 3

Another return with that of The Umbrella Academy. The dysfunctional family of colorful superheroes returns for a third season in which they will face a new team with uncanny abilities. After the events of the second season, our heroes return to their space-time to finally realize that new individuals have taken their place within the academy.

These characters form the “Sparrow Academy” and present themselves as the main antagonists of this new batch of episodes.

Vikings : Valhalla

Scandinavian warriors have had a huge resurgence in popularity in recent years. This sudden success is due to a growing interest in contemporary cultural productions with games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, The Elder Scrolls V : Skyrim or Valheim but also on the manga side with Vinland Saga and finally especially the Vikings series which tells the legendary story of Ragnar Lothbrok and his sons.

Vikings : Valhalla comes as both a spin-off and a sequel set 100 years after the events of the final season of Vikings. The port city of Kattegat has changed a lot in a century and quickly became a veritable hub of international medieval trade.

The influence of the Scandinavian peoples on the world has never been greater, and paradoxically their culture is beginning to disappear with the rise of Christianity. This new series promises us a breathtaking new story, bloody fights and the spotlight on new mythical stories.
