The Latin Recording Academy announced that Fito Paez will receive this year’s Award for Musical Excellence. In addition to the popular Argentine singer, they will also distinguish Martinho da Vila, Emmanuel, Sheila E. & Pete Escovedo, Milly Quezada, Joaquín Sabina and Gilberto Santa Rosa.

The Musical Excellence Award is awarded to performers who during their careers have made creative contributions of outstanding artistic value to Latin music and its communities.

The honorees will be honored at a private ceremony on November 17, 2021 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, executive produced by Eduardo Osorio, as part of the week of the 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

Fito Páez is one of the most outstanding singer-songwriters in the history of Argentine music. He knew how to redefine the essence of Latin pop-rock. It became known nationally in 1985 thanks to its second album, Turns.

In 1994 he reached the peak of artistic and commercial success with The love after Love, a masterpiece influenced by Beatles pop, with subtle echoes of Argentine folklore.

The Rosario artist was a phenomenal bestseller, with songs like “To roll my life” Y “A dress and a love.” Páez’s skin-deep lyrics and his contagious melodies that become anthems managed to transcend his country of origin and have led him to win eight Latin Grammys and a Grammy.

In his official Twitter account, the composer thanked this recognition: “Thanks to the Academy for this Award for Musical Excellence”.

Fito plans to give the show “A man with a piano” at the Fillmore Miami Beach on July 17, at 20:00. It is a show in which the artist will review his career and perform some songs from The conquest of space, the musician’s twenty-fourth studio album that was composed and recorded during 2018.

The aforementioned album has an international imprint, considering that it was recorded at Capitol Studios, the creative temple of the most important figures in music, located in Los Angeles, and in which musicians such as Abe Laboriel, drummer of Paul McCartney and the Argentine participated Guillermo Vadalá.

The material has nine unreleased songs and was recorded by renowned Argentine recording engineer Gustavo Borner, winner of 16 Grammys.

The conquest of space was chosen as the winner in the 63rd Grammy Awards Ceremony, in the category Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album, this being the artist’s second nomination for the awards, 20 years after the first with open (2000).

This album has recently been nominated in six categories in 22nd Gardel Music Awards Ceremonyincluding Album of the year, Song of the year (for “The song of the beasts”), Best Rock Artist Album Y Best Duet / Collaboration Song (for “People on the street” with Lali Espósito).

The Gardel Music Awards 2021 will be next Friday, July 23 from 22 and it will be broadcast on TNT and Radio Nacional, as announced on Tuesday by the Argentine Chamber of Phonogram and Videogram Producers (Capif), who is in charge of organizing the awards.
