Spin-offs, animated series and adaptation of a collection of short stories, the American channel HBO has not yet finished with Game of Thrones.

In addition to House of the Dragon and to make people forget the cancellation of The Long Night, HBO prepares the expansion of the universe of Game of Thrones with three new prequel projects to power its streaming service:

  • 9 Voyages (working title): By the creator of Rome, Bruno Heller, this series will follow Lord Corlys Velaryon, aka the Sea Serpent, Lord of the Tides, and the head of House Velaryon. The character will also be present in House of the Dragon, where he is played by actor Steve Toussaint (Line of Duty, Death in Paradise, Pine Gap, It’s A Sin)
  • 10,000 Ships (working title): The series will focus on Warrior Queen Nymeria Martell, a revered ancestor of House Martell who founded the kingdom of Dorne. Its story takes place roughly 1,000 years before the events of Game of Thrones, making it much older on the Westeros timeline than any other on-going projects previously announced.
  • Project Three (?): The series will take place in King’s Landing’s famous slum, Flea Bottom – the capital’s maze of narrow streets where characters like Davos Seaworth and Gendry Baratheon were born.

HBO: more Game of Thrones with plenty of stories

Another HBO project is based on George RR Martin’s popular novels Dunk and Egg, which follow the adventures of the knight of the hedges Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire Egg, who would later become King Aegon V Targaryen. Additionally, an anime project is under consideration with a storyline that has yet to be revealed.
