The rumors about a return of Johnny Depp (59) to the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise had hardly received new nourishment when they were denied again. It was rumored online on Wednesday (November 23) that the actor has been cast in the next movie in the franchise.

“New energy” for the franchise

In 2018, the actor, who for many was the reason for the success of the pirate films, was fired from Disney. But now someone wanted his name on a cast list. Many were already looking forward to seeing Captain Jack Sparrow again. Johnny last reprized his pariah role in 2017’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,’ after which creators felt their franchise needed “rejuvenated energy.” A sixth installment, working title ‘A Day At The Sea’, is reportedly in the works.

Johnny Depp is directing again

Johnny Depp will definitely not be in it. A rumor initially circulated that his name had appeared on a so-called call sheet — it lists all the information for a day’s shooting, including which actors’ turn it is. Accordingly, the Hollywood star should report for duty at the beginning of February at a secret location in Great Britain. But these rumors are not true, reported ‘DailyMail.com’ a short time later.

The actor, meanwhile, is working on his first project following the defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Johnny Depp will direct a biopic by Italian sculptor and painter Amedeo Modigliani.
