Chloe (aka Chloe Bailey), had us all reaching out for our Tina Knowles opera glasses when she performed “Have Mercy”, Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards. It was Chloe’s solo TV debut.
Bailey tweeted that today was the day !!!!, just hours before her VMAs debut. Ahhhh. To keep my mind clear, i won’t be posting on social media until after the performance. (might post IG stories). It was every bit as epic and thrilling as she promised. Chloe, introduced by Halle Bailey, assumed her power — lightning bolts included! — before performing “Have Mercy” with fervor.
Bailey, who is part of Chloe x Halle has received five total VMA nominees: Best New Actor and Push Artist of The Year in 2019, then Best Group, Best R&B video (“Do It”) and Best Quarantine performance (also for 2020’s “Do It”)
The VMAs included performances by Alicia Keys, Swae Lee and Busta Rhymes.
