New York, Aug 28 – The Brazilian Anitta won this Sunday the award for best Latin video at the MTV Music Video Awards (VMA) held at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
Anitta’s “Envolver” beat Bad Bunny’s “Titi asked me”, Daddy Yankee’s “Remix”, Farruko’s “Pepas”, J Balvin and Skrillex’s “In Da Getto” and Becky G’s “Mamiii” and Karol G., who also aspired to this award.
The awards ceremony featured a live performance by Anitta herself who, upon receiving the award, showed her pride in being the first singer from her country to lift the astronaut statuette presented by MTV.
Also, Colombians J Balvin and Ryan Castro brought Latin rhythms to the packed concert hall, where virtual reality was sometimes mixed with performances by artists who set the pace for the ceremony, hosted by singers LL COOL J, Jack Harlow and Nicki Minaj, who also received the honorary award in recognition of his career, the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and the award for best hip-hop video.
