Disney CEO Bob Iger announced Thursday that the animation studio is already working on the fourth part of the ‘Frozen’ movie, although the third installment has not yet been released.
“I’m going to give a little surprise, ‘Frozen III’ is underway and ‘Frozen IV’ could be underway as well, I don’t have much more to say about it for now,” the executive expressed in an interview for the morning show ‘Good Morning America’.
Iger also noted that Jennifer Lee, the creator of the successful franchise and screenwriter of ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen II’, is already working “hard” with her Disney animation team: “not on one, but actually on two stories”.
The statements come as part of the tenth anniversary of the release of what is considered one of the most lucrative films of all time, having reached more than $1.28 billion at the international box office.
The second part of the story that follows sisters Elsa and Anna in the kingdom of Arendelle surpassed the numbers of the first installment with a gross of more than $1.453 billion.
In February, Disney had announced that it would present the third part of the franchise, along with the news that other popular stories of the company, such as ‘Toy Story’, would have a continuation in the cinema.
Lee is also responsible for the film “Wish,” which opens Nov. 22 and celebrates Disney’s centennial in animation and tells the story of Asha, a young teenager struggling to redefine the value of wishes.
