The Puerto Rican singer Yandel will be recognized by the Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte) of the Dominican Republic during the annual delivery of the Soberano Awards, which will be held in Santo Domingo next Tuesday, the organizers of the event reported this Friday.

Yandel will receive an International Sovereign award “For his successful career”, iThe promoters of the award, the main one awarded in the country to the local artistic sector, indicated on social networks.

”Yandel has been an icon of urban music for more than 23 years, positioning this genre as popular around the world. We are very excited to give him this special recognition.” They stated.

The Puerto Rican began his professional career in 1998 and from that moment on he became a singer-songwriter, musician and music producer of the urban genre.

After becoming a star and achieving a solid 15-year career with the Wisin y Yandel duo, he took a new turn as a solo artist in 2014 by announcing his Yandel Layenda VIP Tour.

Some of his recognitions include 2 Latin Grammy Awards in 2016 -in the categories of Best Urban Fusion and Best Urban Song-, the Latin American Music Award Album of the Year, and the BMI Award for his song “Encantadora”.

The Sovereign Awards are the main award of Dominican culture and this year’s gala will feature a presentation by singer-songwriter Juan Luis Guerra, who will celebrate 30 years of “Bachata Rosa.”
