Colombian singer Karol G confessed that despite her fame, she cannot be compared to Shakira’s success.
According to the TV Show ‘Tell Me What You Know’, while the singer was promoting her album, they told her that she was already like Shakira or Jennifer López, she had even surpassed them.
“No, it’s still Shakira and J. Lo! (she shouts with euphoria), I think that to talk about being at a level like them I lack a lot of things to do, but a lot, that is, we are talking about artists who marked generations, who did things all over the world, world cups, official movie songs, many things, let’s say I go around on the road, but what I know is that for such legends I lack a lot of things to do,” she says.
The interpreter confesses that she already tried to contact the singer-songwriter of “Ojos asi”, “Hips don’t lie”, among others, but she could not achieve that dream collaboration.
“At some point I knocked on the door, let’s say a year ago I looked for the opportunity to record with Shakira, it didn’t happen at that time,” she says.
“Let’s see what happens, I’m not saying no, I’m not saying yes, it’s going to be part of what the future holds; If a song arrives that in my opinion is for Shakira, I will knock on the door again, my respect and admiration are infinite, because in addition to being a great woman in the world, my home taught me that everything was possible”, she explains.
The singer’s new album KG0615 is available on all digital platforms. It consists of 16 tracks in which she collaborated with artists such as Nicki Minaj, Wisin & Yandel, Nicky Jam with Ivy Queen, Zion, Alberto Stylee, Ozuna, among others.
Currently, Karol G is starting a project with Apple Music called “Bichota Radio” where she will conduct interviews with the new exponents of the urban genre such as Kali Uchis, Nathy Peluso, Bad Gyal and Nicki Nicole who are refreshing the sound of Latin music and who hence they inspire and motivate her.
