Jennifer Lopez has surprised her fans with a new revelation of a past stage of her life that managed to change her forever. The singer, through her newsletter On the JLo, has reported panic attack due to fatigue suffered when she was only in her early 20s.

“There was a time in my life when I used to sleep 3-5 hours a night. I was on set all day and in the studio all night, and taking trips and shooting videos on the weekends. I was in her twenties and I thought I was invincible. Until one day, I was sitting in a trailer, and all the work and stress that came with it, along with the lack of sleep to recover mentally, took a toll on me,” says Jennifer Lopez.

“I went from feeling totally normal to thinking about what I had to do that day, and all of a sudden I felt like I couldn’t move. I was completely frozen, I couldn’t see clearly and I started to get scared and the fear worsened. Now I know it was a classic panic attack brought on by exhaustion, but she had never heard the term at the time,” the singer confesses.

“My security guard on set came in, picked me up and took me to the doctor. When I got there, at least I could talk again and I was so terrified that I thought I was losing my mind. I asked the doctor if I was going crazy. She told me: ‘No, you’re not crazy. You need to sleep. Sleep 7-9 hours a night, don’t drink caffeine, and make sure you get a good night’s sleep,” she says in said newsletter.

That experience made her completely change her habits, prioritizing her health over work: “I realized how serious the consequences could be of ignoring what my body and mind needed to be healthy, and that’s where my journey to wellness began”.
