Schwarzenegger praises ‘strict’ Chris Pratt for following the same rules as his ex-wife Maria Shriver to look after their granddaughters

The actor is married to the bodybuilder’s eldest daughter, Katherine; together they had two daughters

Bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger has praised son-in-law Chris Pratt for being a “very strict father”. The ‘Terminator’ star also said that, alongside his daughter, the actor is applying the same rules as his ex-wife, Maria Shriver, to look after the children.

Pratt, known for playing Peter Quill in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ hero franchise, has been married to Katherine, Schwarzenegger’s eldest daughter, since 2019. Together, they had Lyla and Eloise.

“Chris Pratt is a very strict father,” Arnold said in an appearance on US talk show The View. “He’s a very good father and a good husband.”

According to the popular action movie actor, Katherine remembered the techniques used by her mother and began to apply them to raising her own daughters with Pratt. “My daughter is fantastic. She uses the same rules that my wife used to use. Maria was always a fantastic mother, and she still is,” Arnold declared.

Schwarzenegger also explained that he and Shriver had different upbringings, which resulted in different methods during the childhood of Katherine, Christina, Patrick and Christopher – the former couple’s children.

“Maria had a different approach to the American one. I had the European approach, but not completely European,” she recalled. “They had a strict upbringing, a good education. Both father and mother were present. But my wife was there more than me 80% of the time.”

With regard to caring for his granddaughters, Schwarzenegger stressed that he doesn’t need to be so strict, since the job of raising them is left to their parents: “It’s an adventure to be able to play with them. They get to be with the animals, ride the horses and ponies. I let them play with the horses, feed the pigs, dogs, that sort of thing.”

“They love me because I give them cookies and they give the animals cookies. The discipline is up to my daughter and son-in-law,” he added. “Let them have that headache.”
