Natti Natasha after releasing album “Nattividad”: “Giving up my essence would have been negative for my daughter”

Natti Natasha released her new album “Nattividad” this Friday, which includes stories of love, heartbreak, sex and empowerment.

The cover includes a baby carriage under a ceiling of flowers on which a microphone hangs, a clear allusion to the artist’s recent motherhood, but none of the 16 songs reflects that new stage in her life.

In an interview with Efe, the Dominican artist acknowledges that many people were expecting a totally different tone. “But I realized that if I renounced my essence, I would not be in a position to make my family happy. I have worked for Natti Natasha all my life and not getting what I was working for, what will they say would have been negative for me and my daughter,” she explained.

The message that her daughter wants to give her and any woman who enjoys her music is that “you have to remain true to yourself”.

“That has been part of my message for years, from songs like ‘The best version of me’”, underlined the artist, who gave birth on May 22 to her first daughter, Vida Isabelle, as a result of her relationship with producer Raphy Pina.

Most of the tracks on “Nattividad” were composed and recorded before delivery. “It was difficult because I wanted to get everything ready in case things got complicated for me when I gave birth”, explained the artist, who spent her entire pregnancy in Miami.

“In fact, the pandemic delayed the whole process,” she added, recalling that her previous album, “IlumiNatti”, went on sale in February 2019.

The videos that accompany the songs were also made in advance. “I did them all before giving birth because I didn’t know how it was going to look (physically). I worked like never in my life, but we succeeded and then I could have more time to recover” she commented proudly.

When talking about the cover, the artist explained that the stroller represents the birth of her daughter, the color pink is elegance and strength, the flowers symbolize the growth and beauty of women, while the microphone embodies the importance of expressing yourself and saying what you think.

“Natti and Natalia have never been so close. What you hear is typical Natti, but what is behind it is 100% Natalia”, she assured.

In short, although Natti Natasha continues to sing the same as always, everything about her has changed. Her point of view, her intention and even her gaze are those of a full, happy and in love woman, not only with her partner but with her daughter, a girl that the doctors told her for years that she could not have.
