We have been clear for a long time that Maluma is the king of reggaeton, but it is also that now he has been crowned as “Papi Versace”. This is how the protagonist announced his debut as a model for the Italian brand, and it is that he has become the face of the new spring-summer 2022 campaign of the glamorous clothing brand Versace.

On Instagram, the artist has posted three photographs in which we can see him wearing a maroon and cream-colored baseball jacket, with the distinctive Versace V and Donatella’s name. In another of them, he wears a fuchsia suit and a dog, and in the last one, the one from Medellín poses with a cyan vest and a white bag.

A collaboration that the same designer Donatella Versace has celebrated on social networks with a comment to the Latin artist: “You are a super star! The world is not ready to see these photos of you! You are our king Versace! Love you!!”.

Maluma becomes the new “spoiled child” of the Italian house, as other stars like Jennifer Lopez or Dua Lipa were previously. But the friendship with the firm goes back months, since in September Donatella chose him as her companion to attend the MET 2021 Gala -one of the most important events for the world of fashion- which already foreshadowed that the reggaeton would have signed for Versace for his next campaign.

The Latin singer of “Hawaii” debuted as a model at a catwalk for the Italian house Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week in 2018, in which he closed the show singing two of his hits in a silver sequined suit.

His participation in the new Versace campaign is one more sign of the relationship that has been forged between luxury and sports brands and artists of the urban genre in Spanish, which began with the sponsorship of concerts and continued with clothing and shoes. A trend in which other artists such as J Balvin or Bad Bunny are also immersed.
