Maluma is the face of glamorous clothing brand Versace’s new spring-summer 2022 campaign, marking his debut as a model in the official campaign for a luxury line.

Showing off a maroon and cream-colored baseball jacket, with the distinctive Versace V and Donatella’s name, the singer from Medellín announced the news on his Instagram: “Papi Versace,” he said, alluding to his recent album “Papi Juancho”.

In another of the photographs, the singer of “Felices los 4″ is seen with a fuchsia dress suit and a dog, and in another with a sleeveless cyan dress jacket showing a white man’s bag.

The 27-year-old paisa became the first Latin artist last year, and the second in the world, to design a limited-edition clothing line in collaboration with the Parisian haute couture house Balmain: “Maluma X Balmain”.

It was a collection of 10 pieces, ranging from $495 for a t-shirt to $2,550, which came out last April.

The Latin singer of “Hawaii” debuted as a model on a runway for the Italian house Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week in 2018, in which he closed the show singing two of his hits wearing a silver sequined suit.

His participation in the new Versace campaign is one more sign of the relationship that has been forged between luxury and sports brands and artists of the urban genre in Spanish, which began with the sponsorship of concerts and continued with clothing and shoes.

A trend in which other artists such as J Balvin and Bad Bunny are also present with their own models of sports shoes.
