Lollapalooza 2021 removes DaBaby from its poster after spreading hateful messages towards the LGTBIQ + community and those affected by HIV.

Lollapalooza has been one of the few festivals that have been lucky enough to be able to celebrate this year. The 2021 has been a great year for Lollapalooza and the city of Chicago , where the festival is held. For 4 days ( from July 29 to August 1 ) 100,000 people a day and up to 200 artists have attended the event, demonstrating their talent on up to 7 stages throughout the Grant Park venue.

In addition, from the management of Lollapalooza they could not be happier, because this 2021 they celebrated their 30th anniversary .

Artists such as Iann Dior , Illenium , Post Malone, Marshmello , Miley Cyrus, Tyler, the Creator, Steve Aoki , Foo Fighters, Cam, Alison Wonderland , 24kGoldn, Tchami, Lauv and many more have passed through its stages.

DABABY OFF THE BILL FOR HOMOPHOBIC COMMENTS

Rapper DaBaby was removed from the lineup on the same day he was going to offer his performance. But the truth is that from Lollapalooza they have been able to respond very well to this disagreement.

A few days before Lollapalooza 2021 took place, DaBaby was performing at the Rolling Loud festival in Queens. During his performance, the rapper used words in very bad taste .

“If you didn’t show up today with HIV / AIDS, or one of those deadly sexually transmitted diseases that will kill you in two or three weeks, then turn your cell phone light up in the air. Ladies, if your pussy smells like water, put a cell phone light in the air. Folks, if you don’t suck a black dick in the parking lot, put your cell phone lights in the air. ” These were the words that DaBaby rapped with, which was heavily criticized on social media.

The rapper defended himself in an even more unfortunate way , saying that people who did not go to his concert had no right to criticize him and also offensively, treating everyone who commented as “internet n-gass and internet bitter bitches”.

Finally DaBaby decided to apologize to those affected by HIV and AIDS but continued to attack the LGTBIQ + community . Showing their complete ignorance.

Anyone who has been affected by AIDS / HIV has the right to be upset, what I said was insensitive even though I have no intention of offending anyone. So my apologies.

But the LGBT community… I’m not wrong about all of you, am I? all your businesses are all your businesses.

Personalities such as Madonna, Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato or Elton John expressed their deep disagreement. Dua Lipa said she did not recognize DaBaby as the person she worked with and was shocked and horrified by his comments. Madonna taught him a lesson “ People like you are the reason we still live in a world divided by fear . All human beings should be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their race, gender, sexual preference or religious beliefs ” . Elton John also reprimanded DaBaby by telling him that as a musician, his mission was to bring people together, not foment hatred and Demi Lovatoposted some pictures showing their deep disagreement. “HIV is not a gay disease.”

This didn’t just stay here. The BoohooMan clothing brand  , which announced more than a month ago that they were going to collaborate with DaBaby cut ties with the rapper and Lollapalooza immediately deleted him from their bill, replacing his performance with Young Thug and G Herbo.

THE EFFECT OF COVID-19 ON LOLLAPALOOZA 2021

Despite the fact that we are still in the Pandemic , the festival could be held in the usual way, except for the use of a mask at some moments of the event and the obligation to be vaccinated to have had a PCR .

At the start of the 2021 Lollapalooza festival, it was not necessary to wear a mask but the Chicago government took a preventive measure after the show began. On their second day they had to modify the security protocol against the covid.

According to the latest advisories from the Chicago Department of Public Health, Lollapalooza will require a mask in all interior spaces of Grant Park beginning Saturday. We encourage all users attending the festival to bring a mask while attending the last two days of the festival.

The festival also imposed basic measures indicating to the attending users that they had to bring their vaccination certificate or a negative covid test carried out before 72 hours to be able to attend the festival. That is, if you wanted to go to the festival all 4 days, you had to take the test at least 2 times.

According to the Lollapalooza organizers, more than 90% of the attendees showed the vaccination schedule, 8% brought negative COVID tests and 600 people did not bring documentation , so they were not allowed to enter.
