Game of Thrones’ actress stars in action thriller with Jack Huston and Sophie Lowe

Launched in 2019 and with a rebound in popularity after its arrival on Netflix, ‘Above suspicion’ (‘Crime and desire’ in Latin America and ‘Under suspicion’ in Spain) has been well received by subscribers of the streaming platform, converting actress Emilia Clarke on trend.

Clarke, 34, from Britain, is well remembered for her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen on the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’. His post-fiction work was precisely ‘Crime and Desire’, directed by Philip Noyce (‘Rabbit-Proof Fence’), and he shared the limelight with Jack Huston (‘The Irishman’) and Sophie Lowe (‘Two Perfect Mothers’).

“In a small town in Kentucky, the affair between an FBI agent and a drug-addicted informant ends up spiraling out of control. Based on a true story ”, explains the synopsis of the delivery on the official Netflix site. Emilia Clarke is the informant, Susan Smith, the agent is played by Huston, named Mark Putman, and his wife Kathy is played by Lowe.

Thora Birch, Johnny Knoxville, Austin Hébert, Karl Glusman, Chris Mulkey, Omar Benson Miller and Kevin Dunn complete the cast of the film.

The plot of ‘Crime and Desire’ is a true story, based on a book that was written by New York Times columnist Joe Sharkey. The film is available in the big N and on Amazon Prime.

The plot of ‘Crime and desire’, with Emilia Clarke

‘Crime and desire’ summarizes one of the main rules for an FBI agent or other police force: do not relate personally or sentimentally with an informant, and much less if it is someone who is involved in a world of drugs, vices and problems .

We are talking about Mark Putman, a young newlywed who works for the FBI and is assigned to a small town in Kentucky, with the only appeal of the mountains. There he meets Susan, with whom he starts an affair after working with her as an informant to end drug trafficking in the town.

Susan, divorced after living a dysfunctional marriage, and who continues to live with her ex and their children, sees in Mark a way to escape his conflictive and depressing life. But their relationship ends in a tragic outcome.
