Although it has been eight years since he hung up his boots, David Beckham continues unstoppable, and has never been relegated from the media spotlight.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid, Los Angeles Galaxy, Milan and Paris Saint-Germain footballer is one of the most profitable stars on the planet, and his retirement from sport only opened the door to an exuberant flowering of successful businesses, advertising collaborations and constant contracts with brands and platforms that have not stopped swelling his bank account.

As it has been possible to know these days, the Briton has now added a new project to his busy professional life, this time from Disney Plus.

As revealed by several English media, Beckham has just closed an agreement with the streaming company for the development of a television series that will tell the story of an East London football team made up of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.

And the sum that is going to be carried by its implication in the production, is, apparently, of more than seven figures.

Beckham will serve as the show’s producer as well as mentor to the kids. The life history of the ex-footballer himself, who grew up in a humble neighborhood very close to Hackney Marshes, the place where the casting of the series was organized, has been fundamental when the Disney Plus executives wanted to sign him.

As stated by a source to the medium The Sun, the company contacted the former soccer player and said “He was very interested in the idea because it really reflects his own experience growing up. Also, he remains very committed to the new talents of football.”

The project, which will begin filming in the summer, will seek to portray how soccer can give young people a goal and a sense of community.

“Disney considered that David would be an ideal mentor for the group,” explained the aforementioned source, “He came out of nowhere and ended up becoming one of the best footballers and most famous people in the world. He will take it upon himself to help and inspire these young people on their individual journeys.”
