The duet of Britney Spears (40) and Elton John (75) is taking shape. The singer shared a photo montage of herself and her colleague on Instagram. It says “Hold Me Closer” on it. In her caption, she confirms that this is the title of the song. It was already announced in July that the two pop stars were working on a duet. It is said to be a remake of John’s 1971 hit “Tiny Dancer.”
What does Selena Gomez have to do with the post?
However, something seems to surprise fans about the post. As a second picture, Britney Spears added a photo of Selena Gomez (30). Spears and Gomez are known to be friends, and the 30-year-old was even invited to the “Toxic” singer’s wedding.
Some fans suspect that Spears’ post is a reference to Gomez’s speech at the 2016 American Music Awards. “I had everything but was broken inside!!!! I never wanted to be one of those girls showing their bodies!!!” the 40-year-old wrote in her post. But that’s “nonsense”. “I have the right to show my body, my mouth, my eyes, my heart and my feet as I want!!!”
Selena Gomez found similar words at the award ceremony at the time. She was quoted by Time magazine as saying: “I had to quit because I had everything but I was broken inside. I pulled myself together never to let you down, but I pulled myself together long enough to let myself down. I don’t want to see your bodies on Instagram. I want to see what’s in here.” She pointed to her heart. Gomez has yet to comment on Spears’ post.
It is not yet known when “Hold Me Closer” will be released. However, Spears insists that she “can’t wait for y’all to hear what we’ve been working on.”
