Britney Spears’ father Jamie rejects the claim that he should be removed as guardian of his daughter’s estate. According to a new court document obtained by Citizen Free Press, the artist’s father cited as argument a recent “request for help” regarding Britney’s mental health.

In his response to a request by the singer to remove her father as a co-conservator of her estate, Jamie Spears calls the claims made by his daughter’s attorney “unclear”. He also points to a recent call from Jodi Montgomery, the singer’s temporary guardian, in which he allegedly called her “mentally ill”.

The alleged call Britney’s father received

The alleged call came on July 9, 2021, just a couple of weeks after Britney Spears’ impressive court testimony in which she alleged abuse and pleaded to regain control of her life.

“During our call, Ms. Montgomery seemed very distressed and expressed how concerned she was about my daughter’s recent behavior and her overall mental health. Ms. Montgomery explained that my daughter was not taking her medications in a timely or adequate manner. She was not listening to the recommendations of her medical team and refused even to see some of her doctors,” he said.

“Ms. Montgomery said she was very concerned about the direction my daughter is taking and asked directly for my help in addressing these issues,” says Jamie Spears in his response.

“Montgomery acknowledged that many of my daughter’s statements at the last hearing were not true and attributed her statements to the fact that my daughter is ‘mentally ill.’ After Ms. Montgomery shared her detailed concerns about the recent behavior, my daughter’s overall health and safety raised possible options, including a 5150 psychiatric suspension, which raised my concerns,” said Jamie Spears.

Britney’s father says there is “no reason” to suspend him

Mr. Spears agreed with the idea of a prior hearing to analyze the possibility of removing him from his role in the guardianship, but with the stipulation that the hearing take place after August 23.

It is currently scheduled for September 29. Jamie Spears’ attorneys maintain that “there is no reason” to suspend him from his role as a co-conservator using the financial growth of the estate as evidence, along with his personal relationship.

“Throughout his service as guardian, Mr. Spears’ sole motivation has been his unconditional love for his daughter and a fierce desire to protect her from those who try to take advantage of her,” the court documents state.

Citizen Free Press has attempted to contact representatives for Britney Spears and Jodi Montgomery.
