Bad Bunny has taken the crown of the king of streams on Spotify. For the second consecutive year, the Puerto Rican rapper remains with the title of the most reproduced artist on this platform globally.

The Swedish music and podcast streaming platform released the news this Wednesday during the unveiling of its annual Wrapped campaign, an interactive experience in which users can discover which artist was the most listened to during the year.

Bad Bunny occupies this place with more than 9.1 billion views on Spotify and is the only Latin artist to lead this position in consecutive years.

Artists such as:

  • J Balvin (7),
  • Raw Alejandro (12),
  • Myke Towers (18),
  • Ozuna (25),
  • Anuel AA (32),
  • Maluma (33),
  • Jhay Cortez (37),
  • Daddy Yankee (39),
  • Farruko (41),
  • Sech (44).

The only Latin woman on the list within the Top 50 is Karol G, who ranks as the 48th most listened to artist globally. According to Spotify, the Colombian singer is also, for the second year in a row, the most listened to Latin female artist.

Spotify told Zona Pop Citizen Free Press that in the last month, 187 million users worldwide have listened to at least one Latin song and that in the last 7 years, Latin music reproductions on the platform have grown by 1680%.

What is the Top 5 most listened to artists globally on Spotify?

We already revealed that Bad Bunny is the king of streams on Spotify in 2021. But who follows him?

Taylor Swift stays in second place on the list. And it is not a surprise. The singer recently broke two records on the platform.

On November 12, the day she published “Red” (Taylor’s version) – with the controversial 10-minute song All Too Well– the singer-songwriter became:

  1. The woman with the most played album on Spotify
  2. And the most played singer in a day in the history of the platform.

Perhaps this second position will surprise some who have followed Swift’s career. In 2014, the singer-songwriter took her entire musical catalog from that platform. Back then, Swift said that streaming did not compensate the artists fairly.

Swift returned to Spotify three years later in 2017.

K-pop band BTS occupies the third position on this list. Drake and Justin Bieber complete the chart of the five most listened to artists globally.

What were the most listened to albums on Spotify in 2021?

When it comes to records, one that captivated global audiences is “SOUR,” the debut album by teen star Olivia Rodrigo.

Dua Lipa’s “Future Nostalgia” continued to captivate by making the world dance in 2021.

Justin Bieber’s “Justice” ranks third. Ed Sheeran’s “=” (Equal) was the fourth most listened to album and Doja Cat’s “Planet Her” closes the list at the fifth position.

Although Bad Bunny was at the top of the charts, none of his songs appeared on this global list of reproductions.

The most played song globally in 2021 was “drivers license” by Olivia Rodrigo, a single with which the artist made her debut in music. The song also broke the record for the most played song on Spotify in one day earlier this year.

The song has accumulated more than 1,100 million views on the platform.

The second most listened song is “MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)” by Lil Nas X.

In third position is The Kid LAROI with “Stay”, a collaboration with Justin Bieber.

The fourth most listened song this 2021 in Spotify is “good 4 u” of Olivia Rodrigo.

And Dua Lopa ends the list with “Levitating” with DaBaby.
