The 2024 Christmas season is about to begin, and since it is one of the most emotional and festive dates around the world, Americans also take the opportunity to shop and give gifts among friends and family. For this reason, stores and retailers often make seasonal hires. This is the case of Target, which has already announced that it will open 100,000 temporary positions for the holiday season.
This amount sounds thunderous, but it is the same line Target has been going in the last three years. This announcement comes despite expectations that consumers may be more cautious with spending during the holiday season due to high inflation that is not letting up in the United States.
According to Target, most of this seasonal hiring will be directly for vacancies to go to physical stores and its supply chain facilities.
Inflation is something that has blown U.S. consumers out of proportion, and retailers are aware of this and have implemented various discounts. In the case of Target, they are going to offer various Christmas products at 50% cheaper than what they offered during 2024. Even, the people at Target pointed out that there will be toys on promotion that you will be able to get for up to $20 dollars and gifts for less than $5 dollars.
To kick off these discounts, Target’s Circle Week event will be launched, which will offer a variety of deals and savings. It will run from October 6-12 and is a great way to get a head start on holiday shopping.
Target has an ongoing commitment to investing in its workforce, offering competitive wages, benefits and flexible schedules to meet the diverse needs of its employees.
During the holiday season, those employees who choose to do so will be able to work several additional hours, and will receive extra pay for it. Target will deploy its On Demand team to meet all of its customers’ needs.
“The holiday season is a special time at Target, which our team has made brighter. Our team members are at the heart of delivering Target’s differentiated shopping experience, which is why we are so committed to providing industry-leading wages, flexible scheduling options, comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional development,” explained Emily Hebert, senior vice president of human resources for operations and field.
