Indy returns – and not only in a fifth movie with actor Harrison Ford, but also in a new game. And this one comes from Bethesda Softworks, the developers of The Elder Scrolls, Fallout and Wolfenstein: The New Colossus.
A new Indy game is in the making
“A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is under development at our studio, @MachineGames, and is being produced by Todd Howard, in collaboration with @LucasfilmGames. It will be some time before we can reveal more, but we are very excited to share today’s news! ” it says on the official Bethesda Twitter account. And that announcement comes shortly after it became known that the cult brand Lucasfilm Games was being revived by Disney.
What this game is about is unclear. Do we get a Wolfenstein-style shooter: The New Colossus? After all, Indy has messed with Nazis several times. The game comes from MachineGames, who developed Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, which suggests that Indiana Jones should also go in the direction of a shooter. But maybe we will get something that is more adventure-oriented. It is unlikely that we will get a classic point & click adventure. The genre is currently not that popular. A role play around Indy would of course be very interesting. Even the video that was released with the announcement doesn’t really reveal much.
We’ll have to wait until Bethesda reveals more about this mysterious Indiana Jones game – but that will take a while. It will presumably be released exclusively for PC and Xbox Series X / S.
