The Gen3 will be the fastest and most efficient Formula E car to date, with front and rear powertrains providing 600kW of regenerative power and 95% energy efficiency, allowing more than 40% of the energy used in a stroke comes solely from regenerative braking
Unveiled on the streets of Modena, home of Maserati a few weeks ago, the Maserati Tipo Folgore takes the Trident brand back to its roots, the world of racing, making it the first Italian car brand to enter Formula E. .
Inspired by the iconic blue color of the Trident, the Maserati Tipo Folgore Gen3 is the ultimate in high-performance electrification, efficiency and cutting-edge technology that, thanks to the ‘Race Beyond’ platform, will be able to transfer innovation from the track to the road.
Thus, the first fully electric racing car in the history of Maserati has been created with the aim of achieving a modern and pure appearance, as far as decoration is concerned. Maserati’s Trident is depicted naturally and prominently at the nose end, while the Maserati Corse logo and the Italian Tricolor sit on either side of the front of the chassis.
The first racing car to bear the Trident logo was the Type 26, which debuted in the Targa Florio in 1926, finishing first in its class with Alfieri Maserati at the wheel. Now, 96 years later, the Maserati Tipo Folgore, boldly portraying the Trident, enters the era of electrification, accelerating Maserati’s commitment to Folgore, the brand’s new 100% electric range.
The Gen3 will be the fastest and most efficient Formula E car to date, with front and rear powertrains providing 600kW of regenerative power and 95% energy efficiency, allowing more than 40% of the energy used in a stroke comes solely from regenerative braking. The track experience, technology and software used in Formula E are a key part of this competition and the insights gained will carry over to Maserati’s high-end road cars with the imminent introduction of its Folgore range.
After passing through Valencia (Spain), the Maserati Tipo Folgore is preparing to head to the track of the Hermanos Rodríguez Autodrome in Mexico City, where it will debut on January 14, 2023, to start the calendar of 19 races and begin a season that will opens a new era of electric racing.
