First-season performances
From its very first days, the Oshi No Ko anime made an impression, setting record after record. And this was soon reflected in sales of the manga, which also soared. A case in point is the phenomenal launch of the anime on April 12. Broadcast on HIDIVE, Oshi No Ko made history right from the start.
Oshi No Ko has become the best-starting anime of all time on the streaming service. And this is reflected in the total number of viewers, with new subscribers having viewed the first episode, which ran for 90 minutes. In addition to this achievement, Oshi No Ko’s other feat was the unprecedented success of its opening theme, “Idol”, performed by the group Yoasobi.
Now a worldwide phenomenon, the Japanese duo’s track has passed the 100 million views mark on YouTube. The track currently has over 198 million views. Exceeding 200 million should be no more than a formality. What’s more, the track has climbed to number one on the Billboard Japan and Billboard Global charts. And as if nothing could quench its thirst, the track also stormed the “Apple Music Top 100: Global”, taking first place.
