According to the journalist in AFP, a series of explosions were heard Sunday morning in Odessa, a coastal city in southwestern Ukraine.

Explosions were felt around 06:00 (local time) and caused at least three plumes of black smoke with visible flames, apparently in the industrial zone of this strategic port on the Black Sea.

A hotel employee in the city center said he heard the plane, but a military man near the site of one of the explosions indicated that it was a missile or missile.

“Odessa region is part of the enemy’s priority tasks. The adversary continues its treacherous practice of attacking sensitive infrastructure,” said Nazarov, who upheld the ban on reporting the location or damage caused by the attacks.

Anton Gerashchenko, Advisor to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, wrote on Telegram: “Odessa was attacked from the air. Fires are observed in some areas. Some of the missiles were shot down by air defense forces.”

For his part, the adviser to the Odessa City Council, Petr Obukhov, condemned the attack by Russian troops on his Facebook profile and assured that the city would not forget or forgive anything.

“The enemy launched a missile strike in Odessa. One of the targets was the fuel tank. We will never forget or forgive anything,” he said.

BLOCCADE CONTINUES

Despite the loss of control over areas close to the capital, the Russian naval forces maintain a blockade of the Ukrainian coast in the Black and Azov Seas, not allowing Ukraine to replenish supplies by sea, according to the latest intelligence report from the UK Department of Defense.

Russia still retains the ability to make an amphibious landing, but the operation is likely to be risky due to the time Ukrainian forces have had to prepare, according to a report released this Sunday.

Mines that may be in the Black Sea pose a risk to maritime activities, he adds.

Although the origin of these mines is not yet clear, their presence is almost certainly related to Russian naval activity in the area and demonstrates how the Russian invasion of Ukraine affects civilian interests.
