Strictly speaking, the event occurred on November 4, 2021 and, following a complaint from his family, his body appeared the next day at Grafton Lock, downstream from his home in Easton Hastings, near Faringdon, Oxfordshire.
According to the Oxford Court Coroner, the bank near the rose bushes was uneven and slippery. “It appears that Sally probably lost her footing on the slippery bank and fell into the river during the afternoon of November 4, 2021,” Coroner’s Assistant Judith Leach said, according to the Daily Mail article.
Sally was the ex-wife of Peter Cadbury, whom she married in 1969. Her husband, 78, is the great-grandson of John Cadbury, was a member of the Religious Society of Friends (Quaker) who founded the famous chocolate empire in Birmingham in 1824.
The victim is survived by her daughter Eleanor Campbell, who married the 13th Duke of Argyll, Torquhil Campbell in 2002. The couple currently lives in the family home, Inverary Castle, in Scotland. Likewise, Mrs. Cadbury also had a son, Simon, and five grandchildren.
