eToro’s Super Bowl ad has SHIB holders celebrating after featuring a Shiba Inu dog during the commercial.
Speculation was rife among Shiba Inu keepers leading up to the Super Bowl, who suspected that SHIB might feature prominently in a cryptocurrency-based ad during the game. Some even suggested that Robinhood might announce a SHIB list, but this did not happen.
This is how it all happened.
Shiba Inu Super Bowl
With reports of several cryptocurrency-based commercials running during the Super Bowl in early February, SHIB holders braced for the event in the hope that their coin might feature in at least one of the ads.
In the run-up to the Super Bowl, the price of SHIB rose sharply, jumping 7% in less than an hour and reaching a high of $0.00003183 on Sunday.
While the McDonalds announcement may have caused some disappointment to some, Doge and SHIB holders were soon left happy after the eToro announcement.
The 30-second ad featured a brief shot of a Shiba Inu dog, timed to align with the caption: “Imagine a community of millions.”
While not confirmed, it seems like a subtle nod to the two cryptocurrencies that feature Shiba Inu heavily in their branding and have large and passionate communities.
r/ShibArmy users immediately spotted the reference. “My heart skipped a beat when I saw the dog,” one user posted. “I wish it was more than a fraction of a second! It was enough for us to notice,” said another.
A prominent member of the Shiba Malteada community also noted that general crypto exposure will also benefit Shiba Inu Coin. “Why not appreciate the fact that cryptocurrencies are making noise and adoption is more widespread than ever?” they said.
SHIB Nasty, another member of the Shiba community, asked headlines not to clash over whether he references Dogecoin or SHIB. “Millions together. Stop fighting and get over each other,” he posted. “We both have good projects and communities.”
However, it appears that both the Shiba benchmark and the cryptocurrency exchange announcements have yet to translate into price impacts. SHIB was trading at $0.00003013 when the Super Bowl started and when it ended it was trading at $0.00002918.
