The next Call of Duty will probably take place again in World War II
The next Call of Duty will be released in 2021, even if not even the name has yet been officially announced. The fact that the title is called Vanguard is now an open secret, as is the setting in World War II.
Publisher Activision fueled these rumors now in a current quarterly report and also gives fans hopes for a new Warzone map.
The most important information about Vanguard
Release: The next big Call of Duty is currently being developed by Sledgehammer Games and is due to appear in the fourth quarter of 2021, i.e. between October and December 2021. According to Activision, new content should also be added regularly after its release, we are again expecting a season model.
Setting: The developers have not yet been officially elicited which setting awaits us in Vanguard. But a note from the quarterly report fits perfectly with the persistent rumors that the second world war is on again: The talk was of “a setting that our fans know and love”.
Campaign, multiplayer and co-op: According to Robert Kostich, Vanguard offers both a single player campaign, its own multiplayer mode and a “co-op experience”. It could be zombies, they were already in Sledgehammer’s last World War CoD (WW2).
Platforms: The new Call of Duty appears for PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X / S. It should run smoothly on all platforms. It was not mentioned whether the LastGen version might have to forego certain features.
Then what happens to Warzone?
In the report Activision makes it clear that there will be a deep integration of the new main part with the free Battle Royale Warzone:
“We are focused on the ongoing integration of Warzone and on staying in close contact with our player base by further blending the paid and free experiences. There is significant innovation ahead in Warzone itself.”
The publisher didn’t go into any further detail about what exactly is meant by these “major innovations” – but we can make assumptions.
Dataminer and Leaker have been reporting for a long time that Warzone was releasing Vanguard a completely new map which is located in the Pacific at the time of World War II.
It should be much more than just a reskin.
Even Black Ops: Cold War changed a lot in Warzone – however, dozens of new weapons caused annoying balancing problems for months, which only improved noticeably in the last two seasons.
By far the greatest wish of most players was not an issue in the report: a solution for that massive Cheater-Problem in Warzone. Under every announcement by the developers, players are clamoring for effective anti-cheat measures.
At the moment there are a lot of scammers in the lobbies and spoil other players’ rounds. Brazen free-of-charge promotions make the situation even worse. Will the situation improve in Season 5?
