Shoes with cameras, the next boom in the market: what they are like and what they are for

They look like something out of a science fiction movie, but they exist. The shoes with eyes. They are the latest creation of the TU Graz University (Austria) and the Tec-Innovation company and, of course, seeing the result, one wonders what we can use them for. The solution is simple: help the blind to detect obstacles and walk safely on the street.

Their name is Innomake and they work thanks to a series of signals (noise, vibration or mobile) that warn the user of the existence of an obstacle less than four meters away. In this way, the blind person can always take the most appropriate direction and avoid possible damage.

To achieve it, it has a set of ultra-sound sensors that emit signals that bounce off obstacles and are collected back by the device. In this way, the user will be able to know if he is in front of a stone, a ladder or a garbage container, among others.

The most interesting thing is that, also thanks to these communications, it is possible to know the size of the obstacle and, therefore, know how to act in front of him: go over, turn right, turn around.

Although they are already available on the company’s website, they are still in the prototype phase and it is unknown when they will reach the market.
