“The Woman In Me”: Britney Spears explains why she will only read part of the audiobook
In a statement, singer Britney Spears said on Friday (13) that she will only read part of the audiobook of “The Woman In Me”, her memoir. The book will hit the stores on the 24th of this month.
Britney justified the decision because of the emotional charge in her journey. “This was a work done with love and all the emotions that go with it. Reliving it all was touching and moving, to say the least. That’s why I’m only going to read a small part of my audiobook,” she told People magazine.
It has not been revealed, however, which chapters she will devote herself to. The rest of the narration will be in the hands of Oscar-winning actress Michelle Williams, who is also making her debut in the format. In the United States, it is common for books of this genre to be narrated by their authors.
The book comes about a year and a half after the US courts ordered the end of the curatorship to which the singer was subjected. For 13 years, Britney’s life and career were controlled by her father, Jamie Spears, who is now accused of abusing and exploiting his own daughter. Before the announcement was made, rumors had it that offers of up to US$ 15 million had been made by literary agents to the pop star.
Now, the promise is that she will reveal “for the first time her incredible journey of strength”, illuminating “the enduring power of music and love, as well as the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms”, according to the publisher.
It is a “brave and surprising, moving story about freedom, fame, motherhood, survival, faith and hope”.
